Kaltenberg Restaurant and Brewery Budapest
In 1985 the Kaltenberg Alehouse and Restaurant opened, offering premium Pilsner made from a Bavarian recipe to the citizens of Budapest. At the time, communist rule did not allow for many flavours of beer to be sold, so the opening marked a great day for Hungarian beer drinkers.
The brewery consists of a 10 hectolitre kettle, 5 primary fermenting tanks and 13 secondary fermenting tanks. The total capacity at the brewery is approximately 5000 Liters per week. Due to Hungarian licensing laws, bottling is not performed at the brewery because pasteurization of the beer is not possible. Kegs of filtered or unfiltered beer can be purchased for party service.
The brewery offers tours in English, Hungarian, German and Russian. Reservations should be made in advance.

History: In the 19th century the location of the restaurant was used as a military garrison and the building was used as a tobacco factory. In 1985 the building was restored and the present day restaurant and brewery and its capacity of 360 guests was established.
In addition to a vast selection of dishes on their standard menu, Kaltenberg offers new specialities each week, along with organic beer brewed on the premises according to a Bavarian recipe, and a selection of excellent wines. Musicians are on-hand entertain the guests each evening from 6:00 pm.
Menus are available in English, German and Russian as required. Banquet rooms are available for exclusive family and business events. In addition, Kaltenberg's catering division can organize events for up to 2,000 persons at various locations in and around Budapest.
